Plouguernével is a French commune with 1,709 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Guingamp and the canton of Rostrenen . The community belongs to the local authority association Kreiz-Breizh .
geography
Plouguernével is about 47 kilometers southwest of Saint-Brieuc . The Canal de Nantes à Brest runs along the southern border of the municipality . Plouguernével is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Plounévez-Quintin in the north, Sainte-Tréphine in the northeast, Gouarec in the east, Plélauff in the southeast, Mellionnec in the south and southwest, Rostrenen in the west and Kergrist-Moëlou in the northwest. The national route 164 runs through the municipality .
history
In 1675 there was an uprising against the paper tax . The reason was the tax increases in the course of the Franco-Dutch War from 1672. The Révolte du papier timbré or Révolte des Bonnets rouges is still quoted today when the Breton emancipation is the subject.
