Other Voices is the seventh studio album by the American rock band The Doors . It was released on Elektra Records in October 1971 . It is the first since Jim Morrison's death in July 1971.
history
The recordings for the album began when Morrison was on vacation in France . According to keyboardist Ray Manzarek , some songs were rehearsed with Morrison before he left for Paris . Down on the Farm was already written during the recording of the previous album, Morrison didn't want it on the record back then. Other Voices was released just three months after Morrison's death. Manzarek and guitarist Robbie Krieger shared the vocals on her. The album reached number 31 in the charts, the single Tightrope Ride number 71.
A CD version was only released in 2006 on the Timeless Holland label.
criticism
Lindsay Planner from Allmusic awarded 4 out of 5 stars. She wrote: "Although they'd never regain their former acclaim, the Doors would take this platter into the Top 40 and pull off a successful tour behind the project."
