Parliamentary election in Syria 1998
Parliamentary elections for the People's Council , Syria's unicameral parliament , were held between November 30th and December 1st, 1998 . These were the last elections held under President Hafiz al-Assad .
The result was a victory for the ruling Ba'ath Party , which won a total of 135 of the 250 seats. The turnout was 82.2%. A total of 5,501,940 people cast their votes.
