Wulf Heinrich von Thienen (* August 5, 1721 ; † July 11, 1809 ) royal Danish district administrator , secret conference councilor, Herr von Grünholz , Güldenstein , Travenort , Wittmoldt , Sierhagen , Rethwisch , Wensin , Goddersdorf , Klausdorf , Großenbrode etc. was a German -Danish aristocrat and large landowner from the von Thienen family .

Wulf Heinrich was born on August 5, 1721 as the son of Heinrich von Thienen zu Wahlstorf, Güldenstein and Grünholz and Ida Lucia von Brockdorff . His first marriage was to Margarethe Krabbe Baroness von Holck , after whose death he married Lucia Scheel von Plessen , the widow of Count Christian Detlev von Reventlow . Both marriages were childless.

Life

As early as 1733 he received a prebend as canon at Lübeck Cathedral , which he resigned in 1750. He began to study at Kiel University on October 31, 1738 , after completing his studies in 1742 he entered the Danish service as a chamberlain , in 1745 he was Rittmeister in the Life Guard on Horseback, from 1750 to 1753 he was Danish Envoyé extraordinaire in Berlin , in 1763 he was knight of the Danbrogordens and district administrator in Holstein in 1765, Thienen was appointed privy councilor in 1767 and secret conference councilor in 1773.

Due to skillful management and administration, Thienen was able to keep increasing his wealth, which is probably also due to the fact that, unlike many of his peers, he was able to cope with the new situation due to the abolition of serfdom .

Wulf Heinrich von Thienen was one of the richest landowners of his time; he is said to have owned 100 goods. He is considered the last Grand Seigneur of Holstein. Thienen died on July 11, 1809 at the age of almost 88 in Kiel .
