General election in Syria 1947
The parliamentary elections in Syria in 1947 were the first elections held after the country became officially independent from France in 1946.
They took place on July 7, 1947, 1947, with a second round in some constituencies on July 18. In the 127-seat parliament, only 24 went to the national party of President Shukri al-Quwatli , 50 to independents and 53 to a composition of opposition elements, including 33 for the People's Party .
