action

Darius Britt is a frustrated Seattle Magazine intern who lives alone with her father. She did not get over the death of her mother during her childhood. In high school and as a student, she felt left out.

On behalf of her employer, she and her colleague Jeff Schwensen and the Indian-born biology student and intern Arnau should write a story about a bizarre personal ad. They are looking for someone to travel back in time. Guns are not provided, payment is made upon return and safety is not guaranteed. The three of them drive to Ocean View to do their research.

Jeff tries to get in touch with the author of the ad, Kenneth Calloway, and to offer himself as a partner for the time travel, but he fails because of his smug behavior. Darius, on the other hand, visits Kenneth at his workplace in the supermarket, finds the right words and is accepted as a possible time travel candidate. In the following days, Darius and Kenneth get to know each other better and develop more than just a basis of trust. Kenneth wants to travel back in time to save his late lover Belinda from her accidental death, Darius wants to prevent her mother's death in the past.

The research in Ocean View is just a pretext for Jeff to get in touch with his childhood sweetheart Liz. At first he finds her unattractive and old, but later he falls in love with her again. After a few romantic meetings, however, she declines Jeff's offer to move to Seattle with him.

After this disappointment, Jeff Arnau urges not to waste his life but to go out with girls. In the evening they go into town, find a couple of girls and party with them. Arnau spends the night with one of them.

The next morning Jeff hears over the phone from his boss Bridget that Kenneth's former girlfriend Belinda, because of whom he is planning his time travel, is still alive. Darius makes an appointment for an interview with Belinda and learns that there was never a serious relationship between her and Kenneth. When Belinda began a love affair with someone else, Kenneth got jealous and drove into her house. Since no one was injured and she knew Kenneth, she and her new boyfriend reported a stranger's hit and run to the police and Kenneth was not prosecuted. In Kenneth's story, however, a madman drove into Belinda's house and killed her in the process.

After the interview, Darius and Jeff are approached by two secret agents who are after Kenneth. They say they have been following Kenneth for years because he has made himself suspected of espionage through his contacts with state scientists.

After Darius tells Kenneth about her knowledge of Belinda, Kenneth immediately has an explanation: Through his time travel he was able to prevent Belinda from death. Jeff and Arnau then appear at Kenneth's house to warn him about the secret agents. As a result, Kenneth realizes that Darius is also working for the magazine and, disappointed, flees into the forest. Darius, Jeff, Arnau and the two secret agents follow him to the starting position of his time machine. Darius apologizes for not hiding her journalistic work from Kenneth and asserts that she was otherwise honest with him. Kenneth forgives her and Darius enters the time machine. Kenneth explains that the following journey through time will only be about Darius. After a kiss, to the astonishment of the observers, the two disappear with the time machine.
