Derek Connolly

Derek Connolly (* 1976 in Miami , Florida ) is an American screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Connolly was born in Miami . There he also attended Palmetto High School. Connolly later moved to New York, where he studied at the Tisch School of the Arts . He also made friends there with the later film director and screenwriter Colin Trevorrow , while both were working as interns at Saturday Night Live .

Since then he has worked with Trevorrow on his films. He co-wrote the screenplays of Trevorrow's works Journey of Love (2012), Jurassic World (2015) and Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom (2018). He was also originally supposed to write the script for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with Trevorrow . However, as Trevorrow had to leave the project, the two's script was discarded. However, JJ Abrams took over parts of the story, so that Connolly ultimately got a "story" credit .

Connolly also wrote the screenplay for the real-life film adaptation of Pokémon, Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019).
