Alexandru Munteanu (born June 28, 1987 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian ice hockey player who has been under contract at CSM Dunărea Galați in the Romanian ice hockey league since 2015 and has also played with the club in the MOL league since 2016 .

Career

Club

Alexandru Munteanu started his career at Steaua Bucharest in his native city. With Steaua he became Romanian champion in 2005 . He then moved to local rivals Sportul Studențesc , where he was under contract for a total of five years and, with the exception of the 2008/09 season, when Sportul played second class, was used in the Romanian ice hockey league. In 2010 he returned to Steaua and played for the club in addition to his appearances in the domestic league from 2010 to 2012 in the multinational MOL league . In 2011 he won the national cup with Steaua . In 2014 he had the second best plus / minus balance of the tournament behind his teammate Constantin Mircea . In 2015 he moved to league rivals CSM Dunărea Galați . With the club from the Moldovan border, with whom he has also played in the MOL league since 2016, he became Romanian champion and cup winner in 2016.

International

Munteanu was already active in the junior division at world championships: He took part in the U18 world championships in 2005 and in the U20 world championships in 2006 and 2007 in Division II.

Munteanu made his debut in the men's national team at the 2014 World Cup when the Romanians were relegated from Division I. He then played in Division II in 2015 , where he was immediately promoted again. At the 2016 World Cup , he played again in Division I.
