Jack & Bobby is the title of a short-lived television series filmed between 2004 and 2005 and produced by the creators of the television series Everwood . It is a mixture of youth and family series or fictional political series.

action

Jack and Bobby are brothers who grow up with their single mother Grace in the fictional town of Hart, Missouri . Both are going through the difficult period of puberty . While 16-year-old Jack is a sought-after athlete at school who is also popular with girls, Bobby, who is three years younger than him, is a shy boy who is, however, very smart. They both have to pull together with their mother, who, due to her profession as a college professor , has strict pedagogical principles.

The new man in the life of Jack and Bobby's mother, Peter Benedict, who is also the director of the college and thus her boss, also causes further difficulties. Benedict, who has just come to Hart, believes he plays a role in bringing up the boys, especially since he has two daughters.

A turbulent time begins for Jack and Bobby, with all the ups and downs of growing up.

Parallel to the story of the boys, fictional US politicians have their say in interviews. As the episodes progress, it turns out that one of them will become the 51st President of the United States in 2040, and thus his youth will be told in 2004.

Background information

Filmed in California , the series flopped despite a Golden Globe Award nomination for Christine Lahti and two Young Artist Awards , including one for Best Family Series . Since the ratings were too low, Warner Bros. gave no order for a second season, so that after only 22 episodes the end came.

The producers also pursued temporal political interests with the design. The main characters took the names of two Democratic US politicians, John F. Kennedy , nicknamed Jack , and Bobby Kennedy . The series was produced during the 2004 presidential campaign.

The series was broadcast for the first time in German-speaking countries from June 16 to November 18, 2007 on the Austrian private broadcaster ATV .
