Christine Lahti
Christine Lahti (born April 4, 1950 in Birmingham , Michigan ) is an American actress and film director of Finnish descent.
Career
Before Lahti could establish herself as an actress, she earned her living in New York as a waitress and a pantomime in Central Park , but has been a busy television actress for many years, appearing regularly in films and series produced especially for US television occasionally also in cinema productions.
In Germany, she was primarily recognized by her role as the single parent, feminist heart surgeon Dr. Kate Austin is known in the hospital series Chicago Hope , which she embodied from 1995 to 1999. She also directed several episodes of Chicago Hope and also directed two feature films .
Since 2012 she has played in the third season of Hawaii Five-0 the role of the believed dead mother of the series protagonist Steve McGarrett , the former CIA agent Doris McGarrett .
Private life
Christine Lahti has been married to the American director and film producer Thomas Schlamme since 1983 , with whom she has three children.
Awards
Christine Lahti has already received all of the major US film and television awards. In 1996 she and Jana Sue Memel received an Oscar for the short film Lieberman in Love , in which she had acted as director and actress. In 1985 she was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in the film Swing Shift .
She received the Emmy Television Award in 1998 for her role in Chicago Hope , and she was nominated for an Emmy five more times.
In 1990 she won her first Golden Globe for her acting performance in the television drama Burning Destiny . Christine Lahti received a second Golden Globe in 1998 for Chicago Hope . At the time of the award ceremony, she was initially in the toilet and came on stage late. She then parodied this incident on many occasions and took the stage with a strip of toilet paper on her shoe when the Golden Globes were awarded.
