Steven Donald "Steve" Larmer (born June 16, 1961 in Peterborough , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who, in the course of his active career between 1977 and 1995, among other things, 1146 games for the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League has contested on the position of the right winger . Larmer celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the New York Rangers by winning the Stanley Cup in 1994 and in the jersey of the Canadian national team by winning the Canada Cup in 1991 .

Career

Larmer began his junior career in his birthplace with the Peterborough Petes , but moved to the Niagara Falls Flyers after his first year within Ontario's highest junior league . After his third junior season he was selected in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round at the total of 120th position by the Chicago Black Hawks .

He made his debut with the Hawks in the 1980/81 season , but brought it to only four games that year. Also in the next season he did not make the breakthrough and mostly played on the farm team in New Brunswick . In the 1982/83 season he was already on the ice in the first game and now began his actual rookie season . Steve played an outstanding season; with 90 points he won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best rookie and set the record for rookies at the Blackhawks, which is still valid today. It is noteworthy that Larmer did not miss a single game until he moved to New York in 1993 and played 884 games in a row. This brand represents the NHL record is for most consecutive games with the same team. The New York Rangers , he won the Stanley Cup Playoffs 1994 the Stanley Cup . He played the short 1994/95 season due to the strike and broke the 1000 point mark before ending his career.
