Solveig Horne (born January 12, 1969 in Haugesund ) is a Norwegian politician of the Fremskrittspartiet (FrP). From 2013 to 2018 she was Minister for Children and Equality in the Solberg government .

Political career

From 1995 to 2007 Horne was a member of the local council of Sola municipality . From 1999 to 2005 she also had a mandate in the fylkesting of the Rogaland province . Between 2000 and 2006 she was chairman of the FrP in Rogaland and a member of the board of the FrP Norway.

In 2005 Solveig Horne moved into the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting , for the first time . Since then she has represented Rogaland there. From 2009 to 2013 she was a member of her party's parliamentary group. After the parliamentary elections in 2013 , she was appointed Minister for Children and Equality in October of that year. She held this office until January 2018, when some ministries were redistributed after the Venstre party entered government . She then returned to her seat in Storting. In 2018 she applied for the post of Fylkesmann von Rogaland, but the government selected Bent Høie . In March 2020, she stated that she did not want to run for a seat in parliament again in the 2021 general election.
