Montbras is a French commune with 19 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region ( Lorraine until 2015 ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and the community association Communauté de communes de Commercy-Void-Vaucouleurs .
geography
Montbras is located around 40 kilometers southwest of the city of Nancy in the south of the Meuse department. In terms of traffic, the community is a few kilometers west of Europastraße 21 on the D964. The place is on the Meuse . This partially forms the municipal boundary.
Neighboring communities are Champougny in the north, Pagny-la-Blanche-Côte in the north-east, Sauvigny in the east and south-east, Burey-la-Côte in the south and Taillancourt in the west and north-west.
history
The name of today's municipality was first mentioned in a document in 1402 under the name Bras . In the Middle Ages the municipality was part of the Champagne region . The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Gondrecourt. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton of Maxey sur Vaise and since 1801 to the canton of Vaucouleurs. The parish has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Commercy since 1801.
