Broussey-en-Blois is a French commune with 59 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and the community association Communauté de communes de Commercy-Void-Vaucouleurs . The municipality belonged to the canton of Void-Vacon until 2015 .

geography

Broussey-en-Blois is located around 26 kilometers west-southwest of the city of Toul in the south of the Meuse department. The municipality is located a few kilometers south of Route nationale 4 with the next connection in Void-Vacon. The place is west of the Méholle and the Canal de la Marne au Rhin . Large parts of the municipality are forested (Bois le Poil and le Haut Bois).

Neighboring municipalities are Naives-en-Blois in the north, Sauvoy in the east, Villeroy-sur-Méholle in the southeast, Mauvages in the south and Bovée-sur-Barboure in the west.

history

Like all towns in the area, Broussey-en-Blois suffered from conflict in the Middle Ages. The worst devastation was caused by the Hundred Years War and the Thirty Years War . The name of today's municipality was first mentioned in a document in 1354 under the name Broucey . In the Middle Ages the place belonged to the Barrois mouvant and was part of the Champagne .

Broussey-en-Blois was part of the District of Commercy from 1793 to 1801. Also from 1793 to 2015 to the canton of Void-Vacon. The parish has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Commercy since 1801.
