Montsec is a French commune with 85 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and the canton of Saint-Mihiel . The inhabitants are called Montséchois .

geography

Montsec is located about 38 kilometers south-southeast of Verdun . The municipality is part of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park . Montsec is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Buxières-sous-les-Côtes in the north and west, Richecourt in the east and north-east, Xivray-et-Marvoisin in the south and Loupmont in the south-west. The Lac de Madine reservoir is located on the northern boundary of the municipality and is fed by the Madine River of the same name .
