It belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and the canton of Vaucouleurs (until 2015: canton of Void-Vacon ). The inhabitants are called pagnotins .

Pagny-sur-Meuse is located on the Meuse ( French: Meuse ) and the Canal de la Meuse . Pagny-sur-Meuse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Troussey in the north and west, Trondes in the north and north-east, Foug and Lay-Saint-Remy in the east, Saint-Germain-sur-Meuse in the south and Ourches-sur-Meuse in the south-west.
