Bovée-sur-Barboure is a French commune with 142 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Commercy , to the canton of Vaucouleurs (until 2015 Void-Vacon ) and to the municipal association Commercy-Void-Vaucouleurs .
geography
The municipality is traversed by the Barboure from the northeast in a southwest direction. Bovée-sur-Barboure is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Reffroy in the west, Méligny-le-Petit and Méligny-le-Grand in the north-west, Naives-en-Blois in the north-east, Broussey-en-Blois in the east and by the canton Ligny- en-Barrois belonging municipalities Mauvages in the southeast and Demange-Baudignécourt , district Demange-aux-Eaux , in the southwest.
history
Bovée-sur-Barboure was once on the Roman road from Nasium ( Naix-aux-Forges ) to Toul , which ran through the Barboure valley. Foundations of Roman buildings, aqueducts, fragments of bordered tiles and bricks, graves with weapons and coins were found south of the place.

According to tradition, the Roman road is also called "Chemin de la Pucelle" ("Way of the Maid"), as Joan of Arc is said to have used the route on her journey to Chinon to see Charles VII to offer him her services. A statue in honor of Joan of Arc was erected near Bovée-sur-Barboure, with her motto “VIVE LABEVR” and her coat of arms carved on it.
