Han-sur-Meuse is a French commune with 277 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and to the community association Communauté de communes du Sammiellois .

geography

Han-sur-Meuse is located around 54 kilometers southwest of the city of Metz in the east of the Meuse department. In terms of traffic, the community is far away from the motorways on the D964. The district of Han-sur-Meuse is located between the Canal de la Meuse and the Meuse . This partially forms the northern border of the municipality, which is extensively forested in the eastern part. The towns of Ailly-sur-Meuse and Brasseitte are on the right bank of the Meuse.

history

The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Saint Mihiel. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton of Sampigny and from 1801 to the canton of Saint-Mihiel. The parish has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Commercy since 1801. During the First World War, Han-sur-Meuse was largely destroyed by acts of war.

On January 1, 1973, the previously independent communities Ailly-sur-Meuse (1968: 54 inhabitants) and Brasseitte (1968: 68 inhabitants) were incorporated.
