Lamorville is a French commune with 288 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and the municipality association Côtes de Meuse Woëvre .

geography

Lamorville is located around 47 kilometers west-southwest of the city of Metz in the east of the Meuse department. The municipality consists of the places Deuxnouds-aux-Bois, Lamorville, Lavignéville and Spada. Large parts of the community are forested. In terms of traffic, it is far away from the motorways on the D101.

history

During the First World War, the community was partially destroyed by acts of war. All places belonged to the District of Saint Mihiel from 1793 to 1801. In addition - with the exception of Deuxnouds-aux-Bois, which belonged to the canton of Vigneulles-lès-Hattonchâtel since 1793 - to the canton of Lacroix from 1793 to 1801, to the canton of Vigneulles-lès-Hattonchâtel from 1801 to 2015 and to the canton of Saint- Mihiel. All districts have been assigned to the Arrondissement of Commercy since 1801. On January 1, 1973 the previously independent municipalities Deuxnouds-aux-Bois (1968: 56 inhabitants), Lavignéville (1968: 56 inhabitants) and Spada (1968: 80 inhabitants) were incorporated.
