Lahayville is a French commune with 27 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Commercy and the canton of Saint-Mihiel .
geography
The parish of Lahayville is located on the upper reaches of the Rupt de Mad River , 20 kilometers east of Saint-Mihiel and 22 kilometers west of Pont-à-Mousson . In the northwest the municipality has a small part of the Lac de Madine . Neighboring municipalities of Lahayville are Essey-et-Maizerais in the north, Saint-Baussant in the northeast, Seicheprey in the south, Richecourt in the west and Pannes in the northwest.
history
Lahayville was founded around 1377.
The village was destroyed in World War I and rebuilt in 1922/23.

Attractions
The Church of the Assumption ( Église de l'Assomption ) was built in 1741. There were restorations in 1840 and 1930. The architect was Royer. A bridge from 1819 crosses the Rupt de Mad river. There is a small chapel from the 19th century by the cemetery. To the west of the church are small houses from before the First World War. Soldiers lived here during the First World War. The war memorial was erected after the First World War and commemorates those who died in that war. A concrete bunker from the First World War has been preserved in the Rue de l'Eglise.

Lahayville is characterized by agriculture. There are two cattle breeding farms in the village.
