Pannes is a French commune with 177 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Toul and the canton of Le Nord-Toulois (until 2015: canton of Thiaucourt-Regniéville ).

Pannes is located about 35 kilometers south-southeast of Metz in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park on the banks of the Madine River . Pannes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nonsard-Lamarche in the north and west, Beney-en-Woëvre in the north and northeast, Bouillonville in the east and northeast, Euvezin in the east and southeast, Essey-et-Maizerais in the south and Lahayville and Richecourt in the southwest.
