Tramont-Saint-André is a French commune with 57 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Toul and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Colombey et du Sud Toulois .

geography

The municipality is located on the upper Aroffe on the western edge of the Saintois landscape , about 35 kilometers south of Toul . In the south and west, the municipality borders on the Vosges department .

Neighboring municipalities to Tramont-Saint-André (clockwise, starting from the north) are: Favières , Tramont-Émy , Vicherey , Soncourt and Aroffe .

history

The name Tramont is derived from au delà du mont (beyond the mountains). Saint-André ( St. Andreas ) is the patron saint of the village church. The three stones in the coat of arms remind of the long affiliation of the village to the chapter of the cathedral of Toul .
