Andilly is a French commune with 286 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Toul and the canton of Le Nord-Toulois (until 2015: canton of Domèvre-en-Haye ). The municipality is located in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park .

geography

Andilly is located on the Terrouin River , about ten kilometers north of Toul and 23 kilometers northwest of Nancy at an altitude between 213 and 254 m above sea level. The municipality covers 7.12 km².

Neighboring municipalities are Ménil-la-Tour , Manoncourt-en-Woëvre , Francheville , Royaumeix and Bourvron .

Culture and sights

Andilly is home to the largest German military cemetery from World War II in France: 33,108 German soldiers are buried there. Fallen from the area west of Metz and from the departments of Nièvre , Saône-et-Loire , Côte-d'Or , Haute-Marne , Jura , Doubs , Haute-Saône , Vosges , Territoire-de-Belfort , Meuse and Meurthe rest here -et-Moselle . Their graves have been open to the public since 1962.
