Viéville-en-Haye is a French commune with 147 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Toul and the canton of Le Nord-Toulois (until 2015: canton of Thiaucourt-Regniéville ).

Viéville-en-Haye is a neighboring municipality of Thiaucourt-Regniéville and is located about 20 kilometers west of Pont-à-Mousson at an altitude between 270 and 357 m above sea level. The municipality is located in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park .

history

In the conflict between the city of Metz and the Duke of Lorraine from 1427 to 1429 Viéville was destroyed. The place was not rebuilt until the beginning of the 16th century. In the First World War some heavy to Viéville-en-Haye fights were held in there u. a. a two-meter high memorial for the fallen of the 5th US Division and two military cemeteries.
