Charey is a French commune with 82 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Toul and the canton of Le Nord-Toulois (until 2015: canton of Thiaucourt-Regniéville ).

Charey is located about 23 kilometers southeast of Metz in the Lorraine Regional Nature Park . Charey is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Dommartin-la-Chaussée in the north, Saint-Julien-lès-Gorze in the east and northeast, Rembercourt-sur-Mad in the east and southeast, Jaulny in the south and southeast, Xammes in the south and Dampvitoux in the west and Northwest.
