Chemin de Fer du Val de Passey
The banker Jaques Maginot (born August 19, 1927, † September 24, 1998) laid a narrow-gauge railway on his private property in Rue du Val de Passey in 1970 , which has been operated as a museum railway by a foundation on 5-6 days a year since his death .
In 1968 Jaques Maginot found the Bagnall saddle steam locomotive Charles in Belgium, in need of renovation. As part of a general overhaul, he completely dismantled it and rebuilt it according to the original drawings using the original boiler. In 1972 and 1975 he built two wood-clad passenger cars with 18 and 12 seats and wrought-iron railings. In 1978 he bought the Decauville locomotive Simonne , which he overhauled according to his own plans and calculations. He modified the rear wall of the driver's cab as a unique selling point and for better usability.
In order to be able to operate two locomotives at the same time on open days , he extended the track to around 800 meters. In 1990 he acquired a 4 m long brake and luggage wagon and in 1992 a 6.20 m long bulk wagon. The historic steam locomotives are of national public interest because they have been preserved, maintained and demonstrated at the Chemin de Fer du Val de Passey for more than 40 years. Similar Decauville Progress locomotives are listed in France.
