history
The Roman road from Lyon to Trier, which crosses the municipality, and finds of coins from Roman times prove an early human settlement. Today's community is mentioned for the first time in a letter from 1398. The settlement of Barisey-la-Planche, which was destroyed by Swedish troops in 1634, was located in today's municipal area, of which there are no remains. The castle was destroyed in the turmoil of the French Revolution. In 1940 there was fierce fighting, which led to severe destruction.
