The Rupt de Mad is a river in France that runs in the Grand Est region .

The Rupt de Mad rises in the municipality of Geville , east of Commercy , drains generally in a north-easterly direction through the Lorraine Regional Nature Park , passes just east of the Lac de Madine and flows after 55 kilometers at Arnaville as a left tributary of the Moselle . On its way, the Rupt de Mad crosses the Meuse and Meurthe-et-Moselle departments . Viticulture was practiced on its slopes until the First World War .

Attractions

The hill of Montsec (fr: Butte de Montsec ) lies on the south bank of the Lac de Madine. On the top of the hill is a monument commemorating the offensives of the US Army against Saint-Mihiel in the First World War . The monument is classified as a monument historique .
