Abainville is a French commune with 301 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and the canton Ligny-en-Barrois (until 2015: Canton Gondrecourt-le-Château ) and is a member of the Val d'Ornois community .

geography

The municipality is located around 55 kilometers southwest of Nancy in the valley of the Ornain River . Neighboring municipalities are Delouze-Rosières in the northeast, Badonvilliers-Gérauvilliers in the east, Gondrecourt-le-Château in the south, Bonnet in the west and Houdelaincourt in the northwest.

Transport links

The community is mainly supplied by the D966 departmental road, which follows the Ornain river. The river itself is also of importance in terms of transport technology, as it has been developed as a shipping canal to the neighboring municipality of Houdelaincourt and is a branch canal of the Canal de la Marne au Rhin .
