Archelange is a commune of 218 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dole and the canton of Authume and is a member of the Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Dole .

geography

The municipality is located about six kilometers north of Dole , neighboring municipalities are Moissey in the north, Châtenois in the east, Authume in the south, Jouhe in the west and Gredisans in the north-west. The municipal area is accessed from the D79 département road and the A36 motorway runs along the southern border .

history

The settlement was called Archeleinges around 1250 , from the 1890s it had its current name.
