The Loue flows through Ounans . The neighboring municipalities are Santans in the north, Chamblay in the east, Vadans in the southeast, Molamboz in the south, La Ferté in the southwest, Vaudrey in the west and Montbarrey in the northwest. At Mont-sous-Vaudrey there is a connection to the Route nationale 5 and thus to the expressway network. Ounans was the location of the Cistercian Abbey of Ounans .
