Marie Bardi , also Mitzi Bardi (* around 1870 in Vienna , † after September 1921) was an Austrian theater actress and singer .

Life

Marie Bardi began her stage work in Meran , where she was hired for the choir and small roles. In 1894 she came to Pressburg , 1895 to Opava and in 1896 to Prague. There she was the first soubrette at the Royal German State Theater. In 1900 she was engaged for the German People's Theater in Vienna.

In early March 1902 she became engaged to the actor Hermann John , and on May 13, 1902 they married. In 1902/03 she played the maid Jeanette in the comedy Im colorful skirt by Franz von Schönthan and Freiherr von Schlicht . In 1904 she ended her engagement at the Royal German State Theater. In 1905 Bardi gave several guest appearances and in 1906 appeared in the artists' cabaret in Prague.

The composer Oscar Straus engaged Mitzi Bardi and Bozena Bradsky as Diseusen for his Oscar Straus Ensemble . Straus had previously delivered cabaret hits for the Überbrettl , which he now tried to market himself on tours with a small group of actors and musicians. He continued to write songs for his Diseusen that had been successful at Überbrettl. A textbook for Mitzi Bardi for 1917 is documented in the Lower Austrian Provincial Archives , with texts by Robert Figdor, Kurt Robitschek , Gustav Hochstetter , Grete von Urbanitzky , Toni Hofer and anonymous authors, and with music by Robert Stolz and Theo A. Körner.
