Rainans is a French commune in the Jura department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dole and the Canton of Authume . The residents call themselves Rainantais . The neighboring municipalities are Chevigny in the north, Menotey in the northeast, Jouhe in the southeast, Biarne in the south and Auxonne in the west.

history

An early mention of the village comes from the year 1263. 1901-1933 Rainans had a station on the railway line Dole - Pesmes , whose concessionaire was the company Chemins de fer vicinaux de Haute-Saône .
