Thésy is a commune in the French department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Thésy is located at 695 m , southeast of Salins-les-Bains and about 19 km north of the city of Champagnole (as the crow flies). The farming village extends in the Jura , on the first Jura plateau, east of the erosion valley of the Furieuse .
The area of the 4.92 km² large municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The entire area is taken up by the plateau of the Jura plateau, which is an average of 700 m and consists partly of arable land and meadow, partly of forest. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. The highest elevation of Thésy is reached at 718 m on a knoll south of the village. The western boundary mostly runs along the upper edge of the steep slope, partly surmounted by rock walls, which slopes down to the deeply cut valley of the Furieuse.
Neighboring municipalities of Thésy are Salins-les-Bains in the north, Abergement-lès-Thésy in the east, Lemuy in the south and Aresches and Pont-d'Héry in the west.
history
Thésy was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Châtelguyon rule. Together with Franche-Comté , Thésy came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.

With 66 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Thésy is one of the smallest communities in the Jura department. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (157 people were counted in 1886), only relatively small fluctuations have been recorded since the early 1970s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Thésy was a village dominated by agriculture and forestry. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some employed people are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is off the main thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Salins-les-Bains to Supt . Further road connections exist with Abergement-lès-Thésy, Lemuy and Aresches.
