Plasne is a commune in the French department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Plasne is located at 580 m , about 18 kilometers northeast of the city of Lons-le-Saunier (beeline). The village extends in the Jura , in the western part of the Plateau Lédonia (first Jura plateau), in a panoramic position high above the plains of the Saône .
The area of the 7.76 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The entire area is taken up by the plain of the Plateau Lédonia, which lies at an average of 550 m and is partly made up of arable land and meadow, partly of forest. At 606 m , the highest point in Plasne is reached on a hill north of the village. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. The western demarcation runs mostly above the steep drop to the flatlands of the Saône. To the east, the community area extends to the edge of the extensive forest area of the Forêt de Poligny .
Neighboring communities of Plasne are Barretaine in the north and east, Le Fied , Château-Chalon and Frontenay in the south and Miéry in the west.
history
The municipality of Plasne was already settled during the Gallo-Roman period. A chapel was first recorded in writing in the 13th century. The place name is derived from the French word plaine (level). Together with Franche-Comté , Plasne came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
Attractions
The village church has a tower that was rebuilt in the 18th century.

With 218 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Plasne is one of the small communities in the Jura department. After the population had decreased markedly in the first half of the 20th century (412 people were still counted in 1876), slight population growth has been recorded again since the beginning of the 1990s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Plasne was a village dominated by agriculture and forestry. In addition, there are now some local small businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Poligny to Mirebel . Further road connections exist with Le Fied, Château-Chalon and Barretaine.
