Cistercian Abbey of Ounans

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cistercian Abbey Ounans was from 1147 to 1791, a French monastery of Cistercian nuns , first in Ounans , 1595 in Dole , Jura , now in the Diocese of Saint-Claude .

history

The Tart Abbey settled in the nunnery founded in 1147 (1140 at the earliest) 15 kilometers southeast of Dole on the Loue in Ounans, which was not far from the Cistercian monastery of Rosières . Pressed by the river, the monastery was moved to an elevated location in 1520 and moved to the city of Dole in 1595, where the Abbey of Corcelles was added in 1609 and Collonges Abbey in 1622 , and new buildings were erected in the 17th and early 18th centuries. The monastery of the "Dames d'Ounans" existed in Dole until the French Revolution . Today the well-preserved buildings house a high school ( Lycée Charles Nodier ). In Ounans and Dole, a Rue des Dames d'Ounans and in Dole a Treige (= passage) des Dames d'Ounans remind of the monastery.
