Dofka is an American power and thrash metal band from Washington, DC that was formed in 1987.

history

The band was founded in 1987 by guitarist Jim Dofka. In 1990 the debut album Toxic Wasteland was released via Black Dragon Records / Ariola . Besides Jim Dofka, only the singer Scot Edgell could be heard. The second demo Bow to Thee followed in 1992 . In addition, the band went on tour permanently until 1994. After a few line-up changes, the band took a break until 1999, as the band had re-released their debut album the year before and participated in tribute albums to Mercyful Fate , Dio , Iron Maiden , Savatage and Black Sabbath . Another album called Wrecking Ball followed in 2005 . In 2010 the next album Humanity Bleak followed , on which the band insisted next to Jim Dofka from the singer Andrew D'Cagna, the bassist James Babcock and the drummer Mike Barnett.

style

According to Andreas Schöwe from Metal Hammer, the band play Toxic Wasteland Metal, which has been heavily influenced by artists such as Yngwie Malmsteen and Marty Friedman , although the music still seems independent “thanks to its tireless virtuosity and variety of ideas”. The vocals sound like a mixture of Ozzy Osbourne and Michael Kiske . thethrashmetalguide.com compared the music on the album with the last Hexenhaus album or Savatage tracks, with Toxic Wasteland being more thrash metal-heavy. Humanity Bleak is classic Power Metal, with Thrash and Progressive Metal features.
