The municipality is traversed by the Aire from the east in a north-westerly direction . Saint-Aubin-sur-Aire is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Nançois-le-Grand in the west, Erneville-aux-Bois in the northwest and north, by the municipality of Chonville-Malaumont in the canton of Commercy in the northeast, Saulvaux in the east and southeast and by the municipality of Chanteraine in the southwest belonging to the canton of Ligny-en-Barrois .
