The canton of Commercy is a French constituency in the Arrondissement Commercy , in the Département Meuse and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); its main place is Commercy .
history
The canton was established in 1790. By 2015, 19 municipalities belonged to the canton of Commercy. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes fell to 14. Of the previous 19 communes, Cousances-lès-Triconville, Dagonville, Erneville-aux-Bois, Nançois-le-Grand and Saint-Aubin-sur-Aire switched to Canton of Vaucouleurs .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Commercy included the 19 municipalities of Boncourt-sur-Meuse , Chonville-Malaumont , Commercy (main town), Cousances-lès-Triconville , Dagonville , Erneville-aux-Bois , Euville , Frémeréville- sous-les-Côtes , Geville , Girauvoisin , Grimaucourt-près-Sampigny , Lérouville , Mécrin , Nançois-le-Grand , Pont-sur-Meuse , Saint-Aubin-sur-Aire , Saint-Julien-sous-les-Côtes , Vadonville and Vignot . Its layout corresponded to an area of 285.77 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 5505.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Danielle Combe / Jean-Philippe Vautrin (both DVD) won against Jean Paul Cravedi / Corinne Kaufmann (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 62.23% (turnout: 50.57%).
