The Budapest Stock Exchange ( Magyar : Budapesti Értéktőzsde ) is a regional stock exchange in Budapest , Hungary .

The stock exchange was founded in Pest in 1864 by the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I. By the turn of the century, the Budapest Stock Exchange had developed into a flourishing securities trading center . In 2008 the Vienna Stock Exchange or CEE Stock Exchange Group held approx. 50.5% of the shares in the Budapest Stock Exchange.

In January 2010, BSE became a member of the CEE stock exchange group. Electronic trading has been running via the Xetra trading system since December 6, 2013.
