The canton of Vaucouleurs is a French constituency in the arrondissements of Bar-le-Duc and Commercy in the Meuse department and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The capital of the canton is the city of Vaucouleurs .
history
The canton was established in 1790. By 2015, 20 municipalities belonged to the canton of Vaucouleurs. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 47 in 2015. In addition to the previous 20 communes, there were all 18 communes of the previous canton of Void-Vacon , 5 of the 14 communes of the canton of Commercy and 4 of the 20 communes from the canton of Ligny-en -Barrois added.

The canton consists of 48 municipalities with a total of 12,475 inhabitants (as of 2017) on a total area of 605.92 km 2 :
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Vaucouleurs included the 20 municipalities of Brixey-aux-Chanoines , Burey-en-Vaux , Burey-la-Côte , Chalaines , Champougny , Épiez-sur-Meuse , Goussaincourt , Maxey-sur -Vaise , Montbras , Montigny-lès-Vaucouleurs , Neuville-lès-Vaucouleurs , Pagny-la-Blanche-Côte , Rigny-la-Salle , Rigny-Saint-Martin , Saint-Germain-sur-Meuse , Sauvigny , Sepvigny , Taillancourt , Ugny-sur-Meuse and Vaucouleurs (main town). Its layout corresponded to an area of 212.43 km 2 . Before 2015 he had the INSEE code 5524.

Already in the first ballot on March 22, 2015, the team Catherine Bertaux / André Jannot (both DVD) won against Ghislaine Di Risio / Jean-Pierre Lamotte (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 65.50% (turnout: 56.83% ).
