Chanteraine is a French commune with 185 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement Bar-le-Duc and is part of the canton of Ligny-en-Barrois . The inhabitants are called Linéens .
geography
Chanteraine is about 55 kilometers west of Nancy . Chanteraine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Willeroncourt in the north and north-west, Nançois-le-Grand in the north, Saint-Aubin-sur-Aire in the north-east, Saulvaux in the east, Boviolles in the south and south-east, Menaucourt in the south-west, Givrauval in the west and south-west as well Ligny-en-Barrois to the west and north-west.
Route nationale 4 runs along the northern edge of the municipality .
history
Chanteraine was created in 1973 from the amalgamation of the municipalities of Chennevières , Morlaincourt and Oëy .
