Tannois is a French commune with 403 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The municipality is part of the Bar-le-Duc arrondissement , the Ancerville canton (until 2016: Ligny-en-Barrois canton ) and the Bar-le-Duc Sud Meuse community association founded in 2016 .
geography
The municipality is crossed in the north by the Rhine-Marne Canal . Tannois is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Silmont in the northeast, Guerpont in the east, Nant-le-Grand in the south, Montplonne in the west and the municipality of Longeville-en-Barrois in the canton of Bar-le-Duc-1 in the north-west and north.
Origin of name
The name goes back to the Gallic word " Tanno ", which roughly means "green fir".
