Pertti Hasanen (born July 31, 1954 in Turku ) is a former Finnish ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach. After a long career as a player, coach, scout and official, Hasanen has been active as Pavel Gross's assistant coach at Adler Mannheim in the DEL since 2018 .

Career as a player

Hasanen played his first professional career 1971-1975 at TuTo Hockey in the SM-sarja , the top Finnish league at the time. In 1975 he moved to the second Finnish league I-divisioona to Kiekkoreipas . In 1976 he returned to the upper house and in 1979 won the Finnish championship in the SM-liiga with Tappara . Hasanen ended his career at the height of his career. Hasanen played a total of 170 league games and two playoff games.

Immediately after finishing his career as an active player, Hasanen became head coach at the Finnish second division club FoPS . After two years he moved to HeKi within the league . He only made his breakthrough as a coach when he moved to North America - as an assistant coach to the college team UMass Lowell and Boston University , he developed a reputation as a meticulous worker with an eye for promising talent. Also as an assistant coach, he was committed in 1990 by the Springfield Indians from the American Hockey League . The Indians won the Calder Cup in his first term . Hasanen then moved back home as head coach from Tappara , to the club with which he won the title as a player in 1979. However, he did not manage to repeat his success as a coach.

In 1995 his path took him back to North America to Boston University. Again as an assistant coach, he lost the 1997 final of the NCAA against the University of North Dakota . After two further positions as head coach at Sparta Sarpsborg and Sterzing / Vipiteno and as assistant coach at UMass Lowell, Hasanen became a scout for the NHL team Calgary Flames in 2001 , and then head European scout for the Los Angeles Kings in 2007 . In 2010 he followed the call of Boston University again, which appointed him Director of Hockey Operations - in this role Hasanen was fully responsible for the ice hockey sector and thus the most successful sports program at Boston University. In 2015 he switched to the New Jersey Devils as a development and skills coach before being signed by Adler Mannheim in 2018. In his role as assistant coach, according to the Adler sports manager Jan-Axel Alavaara, he should develop both young and experienced players.

Hasanen runs youth training camps at Boston University through the Pertti Hasanen Hockey Academy . At these training camps u. a. Players like Jack Eichel , Lee Stempniak , Alex Chiasson and Devin Shore took part.
