The Unbound Collection on Åland ( Swedish Obunden samling på Åland , abbreviation ObS ) is a conservative - regionalist party in the autonomous Finnish province of Åland .
history
The Unbound Collection on Åland emerged in 1987 from the centrist agricultural party Åland Center , which in turn was founded in 1976. On October 28, 2013 the daily newspaper Nya Åland reported that the Unbound Collection on Åland would merge into the Moderaten on Åland ( Swedish Moderaterna på Åland ) and that the new alliance would henceforth act as the Moderate Collection for Åland . The entire faction of the Unbound Collection on Åland, consisting of a total of four MPs , followed the former party chairman Gun-Mari Lindholm into the alliance.
Part of the Unbound Collection on Åland persisted, but threatened to sink into political insignificance. In the parliamentary elections in Åland in 2015 , the new party chairman Bert Häggblom was able to win back three of the previous four seats, but at the municipal level, the party lost 16 seats in the local council elections taking place at the same time and now got 8 instead of the previous 24 seats. In the autumn of 2018, the Lagting MP Fredrik Fredlund left both party and parliamentary group after he was sentenced to 75 days in prison for double abuse in his partnership . As a result, the number of Members of the Unbound Collection in Åland fell from three to two.
Alignment
In addition to its conservative profile, the Unbound Collection on Åland stands for the fact that as many decisions as possible should be made at the regional , direct-democratic level, as larger political units move further and further away from the citizenship . Therefore, the party is also skeptical of the EU and advocates the autonomy of Åland not only in order to preserve the Swedish language and the independent culture , but also because the special opinion of the Åland population could be ignored if the government of Finland had greater influence on the autonomous province . The Unbound Collection in Åland can be compared in terms of its regionalist understanding with the Free Voters in Germany .
