The Åland Center ( Swedish Åländsk Center , abbreviation C ) is a centrist party in the autonomous Finnish province of Åland .

history

The party was founded on January 13, 1976. When it first took part in the Åland parliamentary elections in 1979 , the party received 42.3% of the vote and received 14 of the 30 seats in the Lagting . Since then, the party's election results have fallen steadily, and it remains one of the strongest parties in Åland. In the parliamentary elections in Åland 2011 , the party won 23.6% with slight losses, making it the strongest force due to the heavy losses of the Liberals . She formed a coalition with three other parties and provided the deputy prime minister with Roger Nordlund , while Camilla Gunell became prime minister of Åland's social democrats . Despite losses, the party retained its 7 seats with 21.7% of the vote in the 2015 Åland parliamentary elections , becoming the second strongest party.

In elections to the Finnish parliament , in which Åland has a permanent seat, the center usually competes in electoral alliances with other parties. The current MP has been party member Mats Löfström since the 2015 parliamentary election .

The party has had a youth organization (Ungcentern) since 1977 and a women's organization, the Centerkvinnorna , since 1988 .
