The 1999 general election in Åland took place on October 17, 1999.
It was the first election in which the Åland Center did not become the largest party and only narrowly lost to the Liberals in Åland .
Electoral system
The 30 members of the Lagting were elected by proportional representation , with the seats being determined using the D'Hondt method .
