Parliamentary election in Åland 2011
The parliamentary elections in Åland 2011 took place on October 16, 2011.
The election resulted in a significant loss of votes for the strongest force in Åland's parliament to date, the Liberals under Viveka Eriksson . The center, led by Harry Jansson , also lost slightly, but became the strongest party ahead of the Liberals. The social democrats and the moderates brought in the greatest profits.
After the election, the leader of the Social Democrats, Camilla Gunell , became the new head of Åland's government.
Electoral system
The 30 members of the Lagting were elected by proportional representation , with the seats being determined using the D'Hondt method .
