Phil Hungerecker (born August 3, 1994 in Lüneburg ) is a German ice hockey player who is under contract with the Adler Mannheim from the German ice hockey league .

Career

The 1.85 m tall striker initially played in the youth department of his home club, the Adendorfer EC . For the 2007/08 season, he moved to the Hanover Indians in the school league, where he was the top scorer of his team. He also came to two appearances in the Junior Bundesliga for Hanover. Already in the following season he moved to Iserlohn, where he also played for the Young Roosters in the school league and was again the best scorer of his team. The next station, for the 2009/10 season, was EHC Dortmund, where he played in the youth league. In 2010/11 he switched back to Hanover to the Indians, where he also played in the youth league.

After the season, Hungerecker decided to return to his home club Adendorfer EC. At the age of 17 he played in the 1st team in the Oberliga Nord and won the league's cup there. He also ran for the "Heidschnucken" in the following two seasons and was able to increase his points yield every year. In total, he had 65 points (42 goals / 23 assists) in 101 games in three years. Since the Adendorfer EC withdrew to the Regionalliga Nord after the 2013/14 season, they switched to a previous league competitor, the Hannover Scorpions. Here, after some initial difficulties, he was able to establish himself in the top row alongside Andreas Morczinietz . With the Scorpions he won the Oberliga Nord championship in the playoffs, where he scored the important 1-0 in the decisive third game in the series. Hungerecker stayed in Hanover in the following season and was able to increase his points yield compared to the previous year.

In July 2016, the Kassel Huskies from DEL2 announced Hungerecker's commitment for the coming season. Under coach Rico Rossi , he initially only played in the third and fourth row, but was able to fight for a regular place in the front row as the season progressed. He was the only "husky" to be on the ice in all 52 preliminary round and 9 playoff games and scored a total of 40 points. Even before the playoffs, the Kassel Huskies extended the expiring contract.

The strong first season in the DEL2 had attracted attention and so DEL-Club Adler Mannheim committed Hungerecker with a sponsorship license in May 2017. After the striker was able to recommend himself in preparation, he surprisingly moved into the Adler squad at the beginning of the season and was on the ice in the first competitive game, the 1: 4 away win against HV71 Jönköping in the CHL . Coach Sean Simpson left Hungerecker in the squad. Only in mid-September and during the Olympic break did he put on the jersey of cooperation partner Kassel for 7 games. For the Adler he scored 17 goals and 8 assists in 49 main round games. In the playoffs he was able to contribute 2 goals and 3 assists to the quarter-final success over ERC Ingolstadt, but remained pointless in the subsequent semi-final series against the eventual champions from Munich. Hungerecker was voted DEL Player of the Month for October during the season, but after the season he was voted DEL Rookie of the Year . In February 2018, the Adler announced the extension of the contract until 2020.
