Thillombois is a French commune with 30 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Commercy and the canton Dieue-sur-Meuse (until 2015 the canton Pierrefitte-sur-Aire ).
geography
The municipality is located about 27 kilometers northeast of Bar-le-Duc in the center of the Meuse department. The community consists only of the place Thillombois. Large parts of the community are forested. The most important forest area is the Bois de la Côte Brûlée . Neighboring municipalities are Tilly-sur-Meuse in the north, Bouquemont in the north-east, Woimbey in the east, Lahaymeix in the south-east and south, Courouvre in the south-west and west and Rambluzin-et-Benoite-Vaux in the north-west.
history
The name of today's community was first mentioned in a document in 1373 as Tillombois . In the Middle Ages the municipality belonged to the Trois-Évêchés area . With this rule, Thillombois actually fell to France in 1552 (officially not until 1648). Until the French Revolution , the community was in the Grand-gouvernement de Lorraine-et-Barrois . From 1793 to 1801 the municipality was assigned to the district of Saint-Mihiel and part of the canton of Dompcevin, then from 1801 to 2015 part of the canton of Pierrefitte-sur-Aire. Since 1801 Thillombois is assigned to the Arrondissement Commercy.
